IBM (NYSE: IBM) and C3 ai, a leading enterprise AI software provider, today announced a global strategic alliance to bring enterprise artificial intelligence (AI) solutions across industries globally.

With the combined expertise of the IBM Services global delivery network and C3.ai’s platform, this alliance is designed to help fast-track the delivery of enterprise-scale industry and domain specific AI applications, shorten the time to value and accelerate the scaling of mission-critical solutions. Under the terms of the agreement, IBM will become a preferred systems integrator for the C3.ai platform.

“It takes a sophisticated ecosystem of partners to help companies realize the promise and opportunity of digital transformation,” said Thomas M. Siebel, CEO, C3.ai. “C3.ai and IBM Services offer a powerful platform for companies seeking to dramatically reduce cost and risk, accelerate deployment, and quickly generate financial returns from their digital transformation programs.”

“Businesses need to move beyond experimenting with limited-impact AI applications, constrained by quality and availability of data, and implement industrial strength, scaled deployments of mission critical AI applications that deliver impact at scale in months, not years,” said Jesus Mantas, Managing Partner, IBM Global Business Services. “The combination of C3.ai, IBM Services, and IBM Watson can help businesses rapidly embed AI into their critical workflows, enabling our clients to move to the future at pace.”

“Businesses working to transform amid ongoing market disruption require partners with the industry expertise, proven platforms and services experience to help them fast track time to value,” said Lorenzo Simonelli, Chairman and CEO, Baker Hughes. “C3.ai’s enterprise AI applications and platform are built for speed, performance, and scale while IBM Services is known for its global reach, leadership in enterprise AI, and strength in services. Together, they offer a competitive advantage to any organization looking to quickly deploy AI and machine learning applications across businesses to achieve ROI.” Since June 2019, Baker Hughes has partnered with C3.ai to bring AI applications to the oil and gas market that accelerate time to value for customers globally.

C3.ai and IBM will jointly develop, market, sell, and deploy AI applications supported by the C3 AI SuiteTM and IBM Services.

Integrated services will include:

  • C3 AI Suite: An integrated software platform for the rapid design, development, and deployment of enterprise-scale AI applications on any public or hybrid cloud environment. The platform minimizes the complexity and coding effort required to build applications by a factor of 40x or more, saving developer hours and reducing overall cost.
  • IBM Services: The world’s largest professional services business, which spans technical and business services and a nearly 240,000 person workforce. IBM Services technical and industry consultants partner with leading clients around the world to help set digital strategy, reinvent business processes with AI and modernize core applications and systems on the cloud.

According to industry analysts, Enterprise AI will accrue $11 trillion in economic growth in the coming ten years1 and the market for cloud, big data, IoT, and AI software will grow to $230 billion annually by 20232. With IBM Services professionals in AI and business processes, C3.ai and IBM Services will address this opportunity by developing integrated solutions to design, develop, implement and operate scalable AI-based mission-critical applications. C3.ai can also integrate with clients’ hybrid environments, including IBM Watson, IBM Maximo and Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Openshift.

Dedicated engineering, marketing and quality assurance teams will manage the integration and optimization of the solutions.

Currently, organizations including Shell, ENGIE, 3M, and Enel are leveraging C3.ai’s enterprise software for greater efficiency, productivity, and reliability.
